Bouncer Games is a duo of independent game developers and enthusiasts from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Our paths crossed and naturally connected, leading us to spend our free time doing what we love most—creating games and collaborating on our own projects.

Our biggest achievement to date is the recently released fan-made game Mighty Final Fight Forever, inspired by the classic 8-bit beat ’em up from the 1990s.

We are a small team with a big passion for video games, and we strive to reflect that passion in everything we create. Our goal is to create retro-style games while maintaining a deep respect for the classics.

ARMY OF TWO

Daniel "Bouncer" Kucera

CEO, Graphic Designer, Programmer

Dan started developing his own games at around the age of 13, when he began experimenting with the OpenBOR engine. You can probably imagine what those early projects looked like—and fortunately, they are no longer available anywhere. Despite that, this experience helped him become a well-known figure within the OpenBOR creator community.

Today, he focuses on developing his own games using the same engine, whether it’s modern takes on classic titles or entirely new IPs. Dan is also responsible for all pixel art and visual design across Bouncer Games projects.

Robert "RayN" Levay

Music, Sound Design

Robert comes from Slovakia and has been involved in music since an early age. He is active across multiple areas of music production—playing bass guitar in a family jazz band, working as a freelancer, and collaborating with a number of promising singers. He is currently involved in creating music for the mysterious singer Zeryn.

He is a passionate gamer across all genres, with a particular love for the 8-bit era of the NES. He has created several well-received covers of iconic video game melodies and is also responsible for the full soundtracks of all the games we have released so far.

PROJECT'S HISTORY

As is often the case, our paths crossed quite by chance. Daniel had wanted to make games since his teenage years and never finished any of them, because most of them served only as learning material where he experimented with different techniques, mechanics, and also learned pixel art.

Shortly before the start of the COVID pandemic, Daniel began working on his own brand, Head Hunters. The goal was not to create a unique, unmatched, or highly challenging video game, but rather a personal experiment he set for himself. He needed to find out whether he was capable of finishing and releasing a game entirely on his own and handling everything—from gameplay, graphics, and level design to marketing.

When the pandemic and lockdowns came and there was no need to go to work, Daniel decided it was the perfect time to finish his game. When almost everything was complete, Head Hunters was still missing one essential element to make it complete—the soundtrack.

At that time, the music consisted of various music banks supplemented by a few occasional artists who had given Daniel permission to use their tracks in his game. But it still didn’t feel quite right. So Daniel put out a call asking who could create music for the game. Many artists and musicians expressed interest in collaborating, but none of them kept their word, which only delayed the project further.

Just when Daniel was about to give up, RayN reached out. Daniel thought, “This is the last chance… if I don’t get music from him, I’ll go with publicly available tracks.” In the end, however, RayN kept his promise and within a few days delivered music that fit the game perfectly and truly impressed Daniel.

As Daniel and RayN started talking, they discovered they shared many of the same interests and that in many important decisions, their opinions aligned almost identically. When they discussed their favorite games, they both realized they loved Mighty Final Fight for the Nintendo NES. Daniel then pulled one of his unfinished projects out of a drawer—Mighty Final Fight Forever. It was a game with a single playable character and an introductory level, far from the version that would eventually see the light of day.

They agreed to create a fan-made remake of Mighty Final Fight, redesign the graphics, adjust the mechanics, and release a functional game within a few months. However, their ambitions grew over time, and so did the project. New characters, levels, and gameplay mechanics were added, turning it into a long-term development project.

Today, Mighty Final Fight Forever is finally out, and the journey of Daniel and RayN is far from over. On the contrary, it is just beginning—they have many plans, ideas, and projects in early stages of development. It is very likely that they will be able to present their next games very soon.
